  • #234 – Stage A

    5″ Mouth 3″ Rings
    ½” Raised Snaffle

This bit is designed to decrease the discomfort at the corners of the horse’s mouth. It will not pinch. The extra 3” rings at each end of the mouthpiece float independently to disperse the pressure across the lip and cheeks to make the horse more responsive to the rider’s cue. The raised snaffle offers less tongue pressure for better feel at the bars and lips. Attach the reins to the floating dee outside the cheek rings.

Sweet iron naturally rusts into a light patina. The rust creates a sweet taste for the horse and makes the bit more acceptable and increases salivation for a supple mouth.

Are You Riding with Both Hands? Stage A bits are great for starting horses, training, or maintaining steady contact. Aspects include direct reining, non-leverage Loose Rings and Dee Rings with mouthpiece diameters 5/16” and over.

Reinsman’s Handshake Promise is a lifetime bit warranty from craftsmanship defects: Our commitment to you is to build the highest quality products from the best materials. Reinsman bits are warrantied to be free of craftsmanship defects throughout its useful life.

  • #1009

Easy to install bit guard. Protects the corners of your horse’s mouth from being pinched. The center is easily cut out to fit the diameter of your mouthpiece. Easy to remove to wash or to use on another bit.

  • #DR044 – 5″ mouth, 3″ rings

The twisted snaffle helps not only to educate a young horse, but also to help keep an older horse light in the mouth. The loose ring snaffle applies pressure to the bars and corners of mouth for direct pressure which makes it ideal to ride two-handed. The mouthpiece is made of sweet iron which will naturally rust into a light patina. The rust creates a sweet taste for the horse and makes the bit more acceptable and increases salivation for a supple mouth.

  • #322 – Stage C

7/16″ Three-Piece Sweet Iron with Copper Roller

    8” Cheeks 5” Mouth

Very popular with Ropers, Reiners, Cutters and Team Penners. The small amount of gag collects your horse and adds suppleness. Mouthpiece has a good amount of control. Center adds a small amount of tongue pressure for head set. Copper adds moisture and feel. Roller acts as a pacifier for nervous horses. The mouthpiece is made of sweet iron which will naturally rust into a light patina. The combination of copper and sweet iron are very appealing to the horse with the added bonus of increased salivation – making for a softer mouth.

Where Neck Reining is a Way of Life! Horses who respond well to poll pressure are in Stage C. Features include a solid mouthpieces and cheek attachment, and swivel cheeks with jointed mouthpieces or low to medium ports.

Reinsman’s Handshake Promise is a lifetime bit warranty from craftsmanship defects: Our commitment to you is to build the highest quality products from the best materials. Reinsman bits are warrantied to be free of craftsmanship defects throughout its useful life.

  • #372 – Stage E

    2 ½” Cheeks 5” Mouth

Excellent draw gag that has more mouthpiece action than a half circle gag. The twisted mouthpiece adds a little bite for more control and the three-piece dogbone adds some tongue pressure for better rate and increases the bar pressure for better control.

  • #1023

⅜” Lariat Crown Draw Gag Bridle

Draw gag bits are the most effective in teaching flex, bend, and good headset. These bits are used with many types of headstall. Most are either too soft or too stiff to have any feel for the rider. We
have chosen the firm braided rope to add feel. The rope crown is more neutral than it may seem, but works well to get a good headset. This headstall can be used on any Reinsman draw gag bit.

  • #713 – Stage C

    7” Cheeks 5” Mouth 1 ⅜” Port

A great option to aid the rider in aligning the horse’s body. The loose mouthpiece and independent shanks makes this bit an excellent transition bit from the ring snaffle to the leverage bit and an excellent choice for pasture or trail riding. The mouthpiece is made of sweet iron which will naturally rust into a light patina. The rust creates a sweet taste for the horse and makes the bit more acceptable and increases salivation for a supple mouth.

Reinsman’s Handshake Promise is a lifetime bit warranty from craftsmanship defects: Our commitment to you is to build the highest quality products from the best materials. Reinsman bits are warrantied to be free of craftsmanship defects throughout its useful life.

    Stage C

A very versatile bit that is well suited for speed events. This bit has the balance and stability needed for scoring, shoulder and stop response. It’s a great bit for any horse, or just to ride outside for recreation.

  • #205 – Stage A

    ¼” Smooth Sweet Iron Bradoon
    Snaffle 5″ Mouth 3″ Rings

Designed to apply pressure to a horse’s lip on the opposite side of the face. The smaller but smooth mouthpiece adds control at corner of mouth and on the bars.

  • #324 – Stage D

7/16″ Ported Three-Piece Sweet Iron with Copper Roller
    8″ Cheeks 5″ Mouth 1 ½” Port

Popular with Ropers, Reiners, Cutters and Team Penners. The limited gag collects your horse and adds suppleness. Has the control of a three-piece snaffle. Copper adds moisture and feel. Roller acts as a pacifier for horses that like to chew on bit. The port adds a gentle feel to alert the horse of a command.

  • #405 – Stage B

    6″ Cheeks 5″ Mouth

One of the most popular shanks for training when leaving the ring snaffle and applying some curb pressure. Mouthpiece bends over the bars at a greater angle than a solid or two-piece mouthpiece, allowing contact to new nerves for better control. Copper roller can help calm a nervous horse and add some light tongue pressure for a better head set. Copper is a soft metal, watch for excessive wear. Sweet iron is intended to rust and promotes salivation for a supple feeling mouth. Mullen relief mouthpiece creates even pressure across the bars and tongue to eliminate nutcracker effect.

Moving from Direct Reining to Neck Reining? Stage B is all about transition, with the introduction of leverage and curb pressure. Short Shanked bits and Half-Gags comprise Stage B.

Reinsman’s Handshake Promise is a lifetime bit warranty from craftsmanship defects: Our commitment to you is to build the highest quality products from the best materials. Reinsman bits are warrantied to be free of craftsmanship defects throughout its useful life.
